Behaviour Policy

SEBC Saints is committed to providing a positive, safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators.

This policy exists to reinforce the standards of behaviour expected from all members and to outline the consequences that may apply when those standards are not met.

All players and coaches are expected to comply with the SEBC Players’ Code of Conduct and Coaches’ Code of Conduct at all times, including during games, training sessions, tournaments, club events and any activity where they are representing SEBC Saints.

Technical Fouls

A player or coach who receives two (2) technical fouls during a season will receive an automatic one-week suspension from all SEBC Saints matches.

Technical fouls are recorded by the club and monitored throughout the season.

Disqualifying Fouls / Ejections

A player or coach who receives a disqualifying foul or is ejected from a match will receive an automatic one-week suspension from all SEBC Saints matches.

The club may request information from coaches, officials or other parties regarding the incident before determining whether any additional action is required.

Technical Fouls

A player or coach who receives two (2) technical fouls during a season will receive an automatic one-week suspension from all SEBC Saints matches.

Technical fouls are recorded by the club and monitored throughout the season.

Serious Misconduct

SEBC Saints reserves the right to investigate and impose disciplinary action for behaviour that breaches the club’s Codes of Conduct, regardless of whether a technical foul, disqualifying foul or other game penalty was issued.

Examples may include, but are not limited to:

  • Verbal abuse of players, coaches, officials or spectators.
  • Threatening, intimidating or aggressive behaviour.
  • Physical altercations.
  • Bullying, harassment or discriminatory conduct.
  • Behaviour that brings SEBC Saints or basketball into disrepute.

Depending on the severity of the incident, disciplinary action may include a warning, suspension, removal from a team, or other action deemed appropriate by the club.

Club Discretion

The club reserves the right to impose penalties greater than those outlined above where the nature or seriousness of an incident warrants further action.

The club also reserves the right not to impose additional sanctions where it determines that exceptional circumstances exist.
